The Educational Museum Conference

We invite you to attend the conference The Educational Museum: Innovations and Technologies Transforming Museum Education.

The main topic of the conference will be the development of museums from spaces where art, crafts and natural history’s findings were collected and exhibited, to spaces where social, cultural and educational events are taking place.


Some of the themes that will be discussed during the conference are arts and museum educational programmes, science and technology, social media and audience development. During the conference curators, administrators, educators and artists will meet to talk about new developments in the field of museum education in Europe and North America.

Speakers

Jeri Robinson
Jeri Robinson is the Vice President of the Early Childhood Initiatives at Boston Children’s Museum. She has over 35 years' experience in teaching and consulting in the field of early childhood education. She is the developer of the PlaySpace exhibit and the founder of the Boston Cultural Collaborative for Early Learning and co-founder of both Families First Parenting programmes and CountDown to Kindergarten.

Irini Papadimitriou
Irini Papadimitriou is Digital Programmes Manager at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A). She is also Head of New Media Arts Development at Watermans. She was also one of the organisers of London's first Mini Maker Faire in July 2013.

Wendy Woon
Wendy Woon is The Edward John Noble Foundation Deputy Director for Education. Wendy has over twenty-six years of award-winning experience in museum education. She oversees all educational departments at MoMA, including Interpretation and Research, Adult and Academic Programmes, Community and Access Programmes, Digital Learning, and School and Family Programmes

Dan Bird
Dan Bird is the Exhibitions and IT Director for At-Bristol, a UK based Science Centre. He joined at-Bristol in 2006 having spent the previous 12 years working in Techniquest a science centre in Wales. Dan recently completed a Noyce Leadership Fellowship with a focus on developing community relationships.

Representatives from major Greek museums and cultural organisations will also take part in the conference.

Athens

During the one-day conference in Athens foreign experts from the field of museum educational programmes will present the latest developments in their field. There will also be a discussion panel comprised of representatives from local museums, and educational initiatives that will give the audience the opportunity to get a better overview on the topics discussed.
