Conference: INTERPRETATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE
October 18th and 19th 2013, Slovene Ethnographical Museum, Ljubljana, Slovenia, Slovenian Ethnological Society
An exceptional interest in the heritage was a reason to prepare a conference on ethnological and anthropological interpretations of heritage. Its purpose is to highlight and deepen the practical issues in our everyday professional practice setting in relations between the scientific, technical and non-confessional (i.e. amateur) views of heritage, while conference would draw attention to its use and methods of protection. In the scientific and technical aspects of the heritage interpretation change with time and the theoretical starting points are different according to the type of heritage professional mission and the doctrine of institutions that are engaged in, or protecting it. Heritage interpretations do not differ only in the capacity and power of its interpreters, but also in the target audience and media intervention. Initial questions that we would like to highlight are what anyone construed as heritage; how and with what aims and objectives is it interpreted.
